See what your idea can do

InventMO is your chance to turn something you’ve imagined into something real. Build an invention of your own, learn from people who have done it before, compete for prizes, and see how far your idea can take you.

You might start with cardboard and a sketch.

You could end up representing Missouri at Nationals.

What could you invent?

You don’t have to solve the world’s biggest problem. Start with your world.

What annoys you? What takes too long? What’s harder than it needs to be? What do you wish existed?

Think about school, sports, music, pets, chores, hobbies, your neighborhood, or your family. The things you know best might be exactly where your best idea is hiding.

Make it real

An idea is only the beginning. InventMO gives you the tools and guidance to research it, sketch it, build it, test it, change it, and keep making it better.

Your prototype doesn’t have to be fancy or even fully work. Recycled materials count, and a storyboard for an app works great. What matters is showing how your idea could work and what you learned while building it.

And you don’t have to figure it all out alone. InventMO resources and educators can help you along the way.

JUDGING & CRITERIA

Take your shot

When your invention is ready, it’s time to show it off.

Share your idea with judges, compete for prizes, and get feedback from people who want to see young inventors succeed. Top inventions can advance from regional competitions to the InventMO state competition, and Missouri finalists can earn the chance to compete at Nationals.

Because sometimes an idea you had at your kitchen table can go a lot farther than you thought.
